Toby Gorniak MBE

Toby Gorniak MBE is a global leader, mentor, and creator of The Gorniak Method. A pioneering approach to leadership and human development, recently recognised as the foundation for the UK’s first Hip Hop PhD.

From arriving in Britain as a Roma refugee, homeless and unable to speak English, Toby has spent two decades on a mission to unlock individual genius in every person he works with.

What began as grassroots work in community centres has grown into a globally respected practice. Today, his method informs programmes in universities, shapes leadership strategy in major organisations, and guides national conversations on inclusion, resilience, and youth empowerment.

He has collaborated with the House of Lords, NHS, Arts Council England, National Lottery, and senior leaders across education, policing, and enterprise. His voice has been amplified by Netflix, BBC, and ITV, not for entertainment, but for insight.

His life’s work has impacted tens of thousands across continents, helping people once labelled “unreachable” step into confidence, purpose, and leadership.

Honoured at Buckingham Palace, recognised with more than 30 awards, and driven by a simple belief, “I unlock individual genius” Toby’s story is more than personal triumph. It is a blueprint for how creativity, culture, and unwavering belief can rebuild lives, transform systems, and change the world.

  • Brett Storry,  Headteacher

Description Mount Tamar is a school for your people who have had difficulty in mainstream education and who have a variety of complex diagnosis such as mental health and emotional difficulties, adhd, attachment, ASD, ODD and trauma. Many come from deprived backgrounds and have suffered abuse or seen abuse in their family. I had hoped that Toby might be able to engage the pupils and build some self-esteem.

    The effect was amazing!

6 months later Mount Tamar pupils were performing on the stage in Plymouth to an audience of 200. Toby always sees the best in everyone and has been a great asset to our school.
