As a result of a four-year PhD study, by Dr. Jade Ward, Toby's Crea8ing Change programme has been evidenced to increase social capital, which is widely accepted to greatly reduce health risks for vulnerable populations & “The Gorniak Method” was born. The study evidenced that the programme promotes the fundamental principles associated with social capital, positioning authentic and trusted community connections and relations as the central tenant to positive individual and collective transformations.

Prominent methods applied by Toby include the modelling of co-operative social interactions through dialogue and dance, with small and large groups gathering in community circles to explore each person's lived experience of the world through a transformative paradigm. The community-centric sessions, whether to engage in dialogue or dance, acts as a site to develop trust, authenticity, and confidence in self and others, and is held and bonded together by the fundamental principles of Respect, Peace, Love, Unity, and Having Fun.

These principles, modelled by Toby, are applied to positively reinforce the benefits of positioning oneself in situations that challenge, motivate, and transform, thus providing opportunities for participants to explore the biological, psychological, physical, and social factors that impact and influence their lifeworld.

Individual and collective growth is nurtured through the application of positive reinforcement and transformative language, which are applied throughout the programme, utilising dialogic practices that seek to listen, understand, and engage individuals, families, and wider community circles. Engaging in discussions that explore sense of self positions dialogue as a site that supports speakers to challenge one another in a process that seeks mutual understanding.

The provision to verbally express and discuss one's views, lifeworld experiences, and opinions expanded each person's sense of self and worth whilst strengthening the collective consciousness and resilience that exists within the group.

Description Mount Tamar is a school for your people who have had difficulty in mainstream education and who have a variety of complex diagnosis such as mental health and emotional difficulties, adhd, attachment, ASD, ODD and trauma. Many come from deprived backgrounds and have suffered abuse or seen abuse in their family. I had hoped that Toby might be able to engage the pupils and build some self-esteem.

    The effect was amazing!

6 months later Mount Tamar pupils were performing on the stage in Plymouth to an audience of 200. Toby always sees the best in everyone and has been a great asset to our school.
